Overview

Housed within the Nuffield Foundation, the Ada Lovelace Institute was established in 2018 to be an independent and trusted voice on data ethics and help shape the future of AI.

Our partnership with Ada Lovelace Institute will help develop a new programme of work on gender inequality and will support the institute to embed its findings into industry practice and policy-making.

Automation can foster efficiency, innovation, and cost savings, leading to its accelerated uptake across public and private institutions. Automated decision-making is widely marketed as a solution to personal prejudices and unconscious bias, but biased data and poorly managed algorithmic decision-making technology have created a barrier to women’s equality and are exacerbating the biases experienced by women, particularly women of colour, in many aspects of their lives.
