Overview
The Legal Defense Fund (LDF) is one of the oldest, most prestigious civil rights organisations in the United States. It defends civil and human rights. LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities and achieve racial justice in the United States.
It received a tremendous inflow of restricted funds after the death of George Floyd but lacked the unrestricted funds it needed to expand institutional capacity. By giving this organisation the flexible funding it needs to develop a strategic plan, train staff and build its infrastructure, it will be better positioned to use its existing project funding effectively.
Funding will be used to support a period of growth as it strengthens organisational capacity, hires and trains staff and increases public presence, enhancing its ability to make long-term impact.
